A Warm Welcome for Live! at The Battery Atlanta

When new neighbors move in, it’s Southern hospitality to extend a warm welcome and maybe even a warm pecan pie. So when the Braves moved into their new home at SunTrust Park, it was only appropriate that we spread the warmth with outstanding natural gas service.

Just as balls, bats and gloves are essential to baseball, Gas South is essential to fueling the fan experience at SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta. Gas South has been the official natural gas provider for the Atlanta Braves since 2008, and things are heating up at Live! at The Battery Atlanta this season.

With three restaurant concepts – Sports & Social, PBR Atlanta and Todd English Tavern – Live! at The Battery Atlanta is a go-to dining and entertainment destination. As the natural gas provider for Live!, Gas South helps fuel everything from the kitchen to the outdoor heaters.

“When evaluating a natural gas provider, Gas South’s standout customer service was a differentiating factor,” said Ben Brengle, director of operations for Live! at The Battery Atlanta. “Plus, partnering with a locally-operated company like Gas South has helped us build and expand our community relationships.”

In addition to providing natural gas, Gas South and Live! have established a collaborative business relationship that’s a real homerun. Although baseball season is the star of SunTrust Park, Live! hosts year-round events on the 284 days a year that there isn’t a home game.

Check out Live! at the Battery Atlanta’s website for upcoming events, including the movie series starting in August that are brought to you by Gas South. Hope to see you there!

Bring the Heat to the YMCA of Metro Atlanta

Gas South is Bringing the Heat again this baseball season to fuel the good that our local nonprofits do for those in need. We are donating $25 every time an Atlanta Braves pitcher throws a strikeout at home games.

Last year, we donated more than $61,000 which was split between The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta and the United Way of Greater Atlanta. Since the campaign’s inception in 2010, Gas South has contributed nearly $350,000 to local nonprofit organizations!

This year, Gas South is fueling another source of good – youth development. Did you know that one in five children, teens and families that go to the YMCA of Metro Atlanta need financial assistance to participate in the youth programs? The YMCA gives more than $161,000 in scholarships each year to kids that are unable to pay the program fee. In 2016, more than 23,500 kids across 20 branch locations participated in swimming, tennis, basketball, cheerleading, flag football, lacrosse, track and field, martial arts, and volleyball.

That’s why we are giving the donations for all Braves strikeouts thrown during April and May to the YMCA of Metro Atlanta – over $8,400!

The YMCA is dedicated to ensuring that no child is turned away, and we are proud that our partnership allows everyone the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Making Headlines with Baseball, Branding and Relationship Building

Gas South is committed to providing Hometown Value, and we are proud to support the Atlanta Braves as our hometown team. As the official natural gas provider for the Braves, our partnership has been a “home run” since 2008.

With the inaugural season at SunTrust Park in full swing, there’s great excitement surrounding the Braves. Recently, President and CEO, Kevin Greiner, discussed baseball, branding and relationship building at the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Business of Sports Summit.

Kevin talked about our successful partnership with the Braves and our “Bring the Heat” campaign. Through this campaign, Gas South donates $25 to a local nonprofit each time a Braves pitcher strikes out an opponent throughout the summer. Each time one of the Braves pitchers “brings the heat,” our community wins.

The designated beneficiary for April and May is the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. The United Way of Greater Atlanta will receive donations for June and July, and The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta is the recipient for August and September.

In addition to our “Bring the Heat” campaign, Braves fans can get involved in a more interactive way throughout the season. During select games during the season, fans can tweet their seat number using #GasSouthKissCam for a chance to make it on the jumbotron! Always wanted to get on the big screen? Well, here’s your chance!

Last season Bring the Heat raised more than $61,000 for local nonprofits, and we hope the team and pitchers are even more successful this season!

Gas South ‘Brings the Heat’ to Final Season at Turner Field

The final season at Turner Field was one to remember for the Atlanta Braves, The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta and United Way of Greater Atlanta.

For the sixth year, Gas South’s Bring the Heat™ campaign raised money for local nonprofits. Each time a Braves pitcher struck out an opponent, Gas South committed to donating $50.

This year, we knocked the donations out the park! Braves pitchers threw a total of 1,227 strikeouts, resulting in $61,350 raised for The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta and United Way of Greater Atlanta.

With Gas South’s support, United Way of Greater Atlanta is able to help combat homelessness and hunger in greater Atlanta, as well as provide care for expecting mothers. The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta will use the funds to continue to provide meals, shelter and energy assistance to hundreds of thousands of residents in need.

President and CEO Kevin Greiner presented the donation checks to Dennis Long of United Way and Atlanta Area Commander Major Todd Hawks of The Salvation Army at the Atlanta Braves game on September 13. Greiner and Hawks also participated in the Turner Field Countdown.

During the Braves’ final farewell at Turner Field this past Sunday, a sold-out crowd watched the team defeat the Detroit Tigers and then it was time to say their goodbyes. In April 2017, we’ll say hello to SunTrust Park as the official natural gas provider for the Atlanta Braves, and we’re looking forward to another successful season!

Through our partnership with the Atlanta Braves, Gas South has been bringing the heat and spreading the warmth across Atlanta. Since Bring the Heat’s inception in 2010, we’ve contributed nearly $350,000 to local nonprofits stepping up to the plate to serve our communities.

Bringing the Heat is what we do best!

For the fifth straight year, Gas South’s Bring the Heat™ campaign will donate $25 to a local nonprofit organization each time a Braves pitcher records a strikeout! This year in recognition of the 125th anniversary of the Salvation Army’s “Doing the most good,” we’re donating the money to The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta. By partnering with the Braves for Bring the Heat™, we’re able to fulfill our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.

Gas South is the Official Natural Gas Provider and Proud Sponsor of the Atlanta Braves and since 2010, the company has contributed more than $235,500 to Georgia nonprofits through Bring the Heat™ − another great reason to cheer when the Braves strikeout the competition.

Gas-South-Sign-New-LED-192x300As you enjoy your hot dog and Cracker Jack’s at Turner Field this season, don’t miss the fireworks from Gas South’s sign in right field signifying another strikeout and another $25 donated to help support the great work the Salvation Army is doing in our community.

Free tickets, anyone?

You might think it’s too good to be true. The kind of thing you need to hear twice. Then a third time, just to be sure. “Two. Free. Atlanta. Braves. Tickets.” Still, there’s a catch, right? Small print somewhere? Or a disclaimer with the caveat: “When you purchase four brand new snow tires.” Maybe a 10-year timeshare in Daytona? After all, we’re always told there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

No, but catching a free game at Turner Field has one easy requirement…well, actually two. One: a minute of time on the computer. And two: you’ve got to be a Gas South customer. No tires, timeshares or industrial-sized orders of foam tomahawks to get these freebies!

The only drawback, if you want to call it that, is there’s a limit of 4,000 pairs of tickets to give away. So doing the minute-on-the-computer thing ASAP is a good idea. And if you’re a little late or need more tickets? You can still save on Braves games all season long. You see, we love the Atlanta Braves, as evidenced by our 6 year sponsorship, and we’re obsessed with sending customers to games!

This year, we’re also offering customers a whopping 38% discount off Sunday-Thursday games all season long. That means a lot less wincing when little Timmy wants a hotdog, coke and dipping dots. Another bonus: the 38% discount applies to many areas of the stadium, so the better your seats, the more money you save.

If you’ve read this far, like baseball, and are not a Gas South customer, you must be feeling a little cheated  by your current natural gas provider right now. That’s understandable. But we can fix that!  Just signing up with Gas South and choosing a great low fixed rate snags you free tickets — and throw in your season-long 38% discount for being a customer, and well, you  can see the Braves so often that you’ll save enough to cover  the physiotherapy bill for that nasty case of tennis elbow caused by over ‘chopping.

So let’s take care of that minute-on-the-computer. For Gas South customers: go to gas-south.com/braves, where you can order discounted or request your free tickets while they’re available. And if you want to taste a little Hometown Value with a new natural gas provider?  Click here and sign up by May 4th to get your free tickets.

The season is full of promise for the Braves. So enjoy it while saving some green. There’s nothing we like more than seeing y’all do the chop – and it’s on us!  Go Braves!

Gas South and the Braves are ‘Bringing the Heat!’

Atlanta Braves fans have a lot to be excited about this year. Led by one of the game’s best pitching rotations, the Braves lead the NL East division at the season’s halfway point and are primed for a playoff run.

We’re cheering and tomahawk chopping to show our support. But the team’s dominant pitching means more than just another shot at a title. Each time a Braves pitcher records a strikeout, Gas South donates $25 to the United Way of Greater Atlanta.

It’s all part of our Bring the Heat™ campaign, now in its sixth season. To date, the Braves have thrown 826 strikeouts, translating into $20,650 donated to the United Way.

Since 2008, Gas South’s Bring the Heat™ program has contributed more than $200,000 to the United Way and other local nonprofit organizations. It’s just another way that we give back to the communities we serve.

So the next time you visit Turner Field to cheer on our Braves this summer, be sure to keep count of how many times a Braves opponent is sent back to the dugout on strikes – and remember that with each ‘K’ recorded, Gas South is helping build a better community.
